My primary keyboard is a Das Keyboard 4C with blank keycaps (though not the
"ultimate" version), a white rabbit esc key, and the lovely Greetech Brown
switches (comparible to Cherry MX Browns) and 4mm o-rings. I also have a few
backup keyboards with Cherry MX Clears. They feel great!

>4mm o-rings
Is that the diameter of the o-ring? 4mm is the stroke length of most switches. How do you type on them?

It's a very narrow travel depth with a tangible feel. Basically once I reach that point that the roll-over feeling happens the key has travelled the whole way and it clicks. It's really nice. As for how the o-ring measurement works I can't say. It's rolled up on the stem a bit so it's not like it lowers the movement by a full 4mm. Hard to describe.

Cherry MX Greens, because damn, I sure do love to wake up my neighbours with every keystroke.

I'm using Cherry MX Clears at home and Cherry MX Reds with O-rings in the office so I don't alienate my whole workplace.

It is. Need to take it apart and clean the membranes as some keys are double/triple typing, which is rather annoying, to say the least.

mx browns, just because they were on my first mk and I got used to them

I'm using an amazon basics keyboard.
Tried a few cheap optical keyboards they were nice enough but...
It madem e realize whiel I like the look of the old keyboards,
I've gotten too used to island style/slimline boards.

If you want island-style, it's worth looking at choc keyswitches.
They're low profile and mechanical, and some of the boards look very pretty.
I'm using Duroc T1 silent shrimps, which, was a long hunt for the right sort of tactile feeling and resistance,
with the right volume.
I have a wireless crkbd that I made a trackpoint for two, and I'm very pleased but I think I need to go up to a 60%

A lot of my problem is i can't justify the expense, and when you get past the
low end, the price turns into 'Yes.'
That saidi t really does interest me.... as in I kinda wish i could make a
keyboard body out of wood, put a steel plate in the bottom both for weight
and sound, and build off that.

I've been using MX blues on a Moonlander for a while now. Easily the best keyboard I've ever used!
